This site is dedicated to the professional and academic accomplishments of Spencer Roberts.

Spencer is has served the environmental compliance industry since 2018. He graduated summa cum laude from Texas State University in May 2019, earning a Bachelor of Science in Technology (B.S.T.) degree in Engineering Technology, with an environmental specialization.

Throughout his life, Spencer has been dedicated to helping others and being a good steward of the earth. Combined with his love of solving complex problems, he quickly realized environmental engineering was the perfect field for him.

“The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.
– Plutarch

He has worked with a number of companies, gaining valuable experience along the way. During high school, he volunteered with a local youth group and worked part-time at McDonald’s, where he worked for nearly five years. Spencer then left to join the US Army as a Petroleum Supply Specialist for a three-and-a-half year contract. Upon leaving the US Army, Spencer moved to Austin, Texas, to earn his associate’s degree from Austin Community College. He concurrently became a member of the Army National Guard, where he volunteered until the end of his contract in late 2021.

While studying at Texas State University, Spencer maintained a year-long internship with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). He also completed a semester-long independent study course culminating in a simulated TCEQ air permit application. Shortly after graduating, Spencer passed the FE exam and registered as a Texas Engineer-in-Training (EIT).

Spencer was hired full-time upon graduation by Targa Resources, a midstream services company based in Houston, TX. During his tenure, Spencer served as an Environmental Specialist. His duties included preparing air permit registrations and applications, engineering calculations, and documenting operational project changes.

Now Spencer finds himself employed by Tetra Tech, an environmental consulting firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. His typical daily workload includes gathering and validating usage and waste data, conducting on-site environmental audits, preparing SPCC Plan updates, and providing training for various clients. In this role, Spencer has served a number of clients in the automotive, banking, food preparation, and manufacturing industries.

Spencer also has ambitious plans for the future. After completing the required workload as an EIT, he plans to pass the PE exam and earn a Professional Engineer license. Spencer is currently evaluating taking additional courses in his free time to continue learning every day. While his career ambitions are also optimistic, Spencer is more focused on longevity of the company and finding mentally engaging work rather than rising in title too quickly.
